The VAPOS Company has been in business since 1996, machining precise machine components. In 1996, we concluded our first significant contract with Škoda Auto Mladá Boleslav Company. In 1997, our capacity became insufficient and it was necessary to get a new technology, namely new machining CNC machines. We were considering either a purchase of new machines or production of the machines according to an own construction. We have chosen the production of own machines. In 1998, we were awarded a gold medal for our 5-axis horizontal machining centre at the International Machine Tools Exhibition in Brno. Between 1996 and 2003, we developed and produced vertical machining centres, producing 7 machines for our own use and 11 machines for sale; 3 pieces for Škoda Auto, 3 pieces for PAL Praha, 1 piece for Volkswagen, 2 pieces for Bosch Rexroth Germany, 1 piece for Sondermaschinenbau Germany and 1 piece for Kovosvit MAS Sezimovo Ústí. In 1998, we launched development of 4-axis and 5-axis CNC machining centres. In 1999 ,we completed a project on a development line of 5-axis centres and won a financial support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. The project was terminated in 2002. Since 2007, another project on development of 4-axis and 5-axis machining centres has been in progress; we were also granted a financial support from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic for this project. Within this project, we are developing three kinds of CNC horizontal centres. Those machines come in 4-axis and 5-axis versions.
